Schools Are Closed… Now What?

Schools Are Closed… Now What?

August holidays are here and the kids are home.

Your house? Looks like Toi Market and Gikomba decided to open inside your living room.
Toys everywhere. Snacks are disappearing. Someone’s always shouting, “I’m bored!”

If you're a mum, auntie, cousin, or the holiday host, you already know. It’s noisy, it’s messy, and it’s a full-time job. But with a few smart tweaks and a little help from Furaha Finds, you just might make it through with your sanity intact.

Here’s how some homes are surviving the season.

1.Make Small Corners That Work

One mum said it best. We had to create zones or we’d be fighting every hour.

Toys in one spot. Books in another. Maybe a corner for jumping or riding around. Add open baskets or toy bins from Furaha Finds and show them where things go. Some days they listen. Some days, you just try again.

2.Crayons, Paint and Chaos

It’s that season again. Mum, can we draw? Auntie, where’s the glue? Someone’s spilled glitter on the floor?

Keep crayons, scissors, and paint in a storage basket with lid or a shelf storage box. Label it. Store it. Make it easy to pull out and pack up when needed.

3.Less TV, More Calm

There’s only so much cartoons and other TV programs a child should have.

Bring out kids puzzles, building blocks, chess, or even a board game. It helps them focus, gives you a breather, and shifts the energy in the house. You get a moment to clear your head or enjoy a cup of tea in peace.

4.Turn Chores Into a Game

Hand them a child-friendly cleaning brush or a 3 in 1 V Shaped Brush and let them tackle tiles or corners. A corner brush works wonders for edges, while a squeegee makes bathroom mirrors and glass doors sparkle in minutes.

They may not get it perfect, but they’ll feel proud. And your home gets a mini refresh.

5.Shift the Mood

After all the running around and shouting, the house needs a reset. A few drops of lemongrass, lavender, or eucalyptus  essential oils in your room air humidifier or aromatherapy diffuser changes everything. It freshens the air, lifts the mood, even the kids slow down a little.

6.Let Them Burn Off Energy

If you want peace indoors, start outdoors.

Let them ride their bike, scooter, or jump rope or bounce on a trampoline, anything that gets them moving. When they come back, they are tired, they rest and the house is finally quiet again.

The Holiday Doesn’t Have to Be a Mess

No house is perfect. But with a bit of structure and the right tools from Furaha Finds, it can feel easier.

From toy storage and art bins to scooters and kid-sized cleaning brushes, you’ll find everything to help your home feel a little more organised and a lot more peaceful.

Whether you’re hosting your own kids or the whole neighborhood crew, here’s to a home filled with laughter, light, and just enough order to make it through the break.
